Recall (sterilizer)
Sterile processing definition
A sterilizer recall is the retrieval of items processed in loads that may not have been sterilized properly, usually after a positive biological indicator or a cycle failure. Generally, all loads processed in that sterilizer since the last negative BI are recalled, following facility policy. Load records and package labels make this possible.
On the CRCST exam
Expect the question: after a positive BI, which loads are recalled? Generally all loads since the last negative BI.
